Original description of Ectinochilus (Ectinochilus) amurensis by Abbass, 1967:

  • "Specimen medium, fusiform internal moId spire turricuIate consisting of 3 whorls; body whorl equals to 1/3rd shell height, inflated posteriorly, contracted anteriorly into short beak; aperture not complete."

Locus typicus: Ain Amur, Dakhla Oasis, Western Desert, Egypt

Stratum typicum: upper Paleocene

Dimensions: Spire angle 25°, height 41 mm, whorl height 11 mm, whorl width 13 mm

Origional comment of Abbass

  • "The specimens collected from this locality (=locus typicus) belonging to this species are all badly preserved, not showing the ornament"
