Original Description of Strombus antipodarum by Burger & Kronenberg, 2006, page 80:

  • "shell small, narrow, with extended posterior gutter, whorls regularlyrounded, numerous narrow axial ridges, flat spiral cords, inconspiquous strombid notch, on abapertural side of last whorl fine axial sculpture crossing axial ridges at a low angle (i.e. major axial ridges weakly non-collabral)."

Locus typicus: New Zealand, South Island, South Canterbury, right bank of Pareora river, ca 400 m downstream from Evans Crossing

Stratum typicum: Bortonian (not Bartonian), middle Eocene
