Original Description of Strombus antipodarum by Burger & Kronenberg, 2006, page 79:

  • "shell small, narrow, with extended posterior gutter, whorls with flat to concave upper part, numerous narrow axial ridges and flat spiral cords, strombid notch inconspiquous."

Locus typicus:New Zealand, South Island, South Canterbury, gully entering south branch of Waihao river opposite Waihao Downs.

Stratum typicum: Bortonian (not Bartonian), middle Eocene
