Original Description of Lambis decora by Röding, 1798, p. 62:

  • "L. Decora. Die zierliche Flügel Schnecke. Gmel. Strombus luhuanus sp. 16 [gamma]. Chemn. 10. t. 157. f. 1499. 1500. 6 St."

Locus typicus: Roeding gave no locality. Abbott, 1960:138 designated Mauritius as type locality.

    • "S. testa coniformi, spira brevissima ad basin depressa, anfractibus convexis inaequalibus, labio exteriore supra lobato; interiore sub-obsoleto, alba."
    • "Shell coniform; spire short, depressed at the base, the whorls convex and unequal; outer lip lobed above, and internally striated; inner lip nearly obsolete, white."

    • "2813. 1. tubercularis mihi, kreiselförmig, 6 Windungen, Gewinde ziemlich flach, Spitze schnell aufsteigend, letzte Windung glatt, Basis quergefurcht, oberhalb der Windungen eine Reihe Tuberkeln; weiss, mit einzelnen braunen Längsflecken; Mündung sehr lang; Mundsaum scharf. Mitte etwas vortretend, glatt; Spindel etwas eingebogen; Sinus schwach angedeutet. Br. 5 1/2 ´´´ H. 11´´´. Dem St. luhuanus ähnlich; durch die Tuberkeln besonders von ihm geschieden.)"
