Original Description of Strombus fasciatus by Born, 1778, p. 274:
- "Testa labro prominulo, anfractibus insimis obtuse spinosis, ventre fasciis fuscis."
- "Die Schalenlefze raget etwas hervor, die untersten Gewinde sind mit stumpfen Stacheln gekrönet, und der Leib mit braunen Bändern Umgeben."
- Testa laeuis,. Anfractus septem, infimi duo spinosi, spinis obtusis. Labrum reflexum. Basis obtusa biloba. Color tessae albus, ventris fasciis interruptis fiscis; faux rosea."
- Die Schale ist glatt. Die Gewinde der Zahl nach sieben, davon die untersten mit stumpfen Knoten besezet sind. Die Schalenlefze ist rundlich, raget etwas hervor. Die Spindellefze übergeschlagen. Der Grund stumpf und zweylappig. Die Schale ist weiß, mit braunen unterbrochenen Bändern bemalet; der Schlund rosenroth."
