Original description of Strombus dupinianus by d’Orbigny, 1843:

  • "S. testâ oblongâ; spirâ, angulo 52º; anfractibus carinatis, longitudinaliter striates, ultimo anfractu gibbosa, bicarinato, tuberculato; labor dilatato."
  • "Coquille oblongue. Spire formée d'un angle régulier, composée de tours larges, convexes, fortement carénés, ornés en long de nombreuses stries; le dernier tour bicaréné est déprimé et orné de quelques tubercules, dont un inférieur-latéral. Labre dilaté, pourvu en avant d'une forte échancrure."
