Original Description of Strombus amplus by Solander in Brander, 1766:

  • "Strombus (amplus) testa tota laevi, labro rotundato maximo, spira conica aequali. Testa simillima Strombo latissimo Linn. Syst. nat. p. 745. n. 436. & forte eadem nodulis spirae obliteratis; differe tamen videtur Spira acutiore omnino aequali seu anfractibus vix rotundatis. Columella incrassata est, ut et Labrum."

Solander gave no Locus typicus and no Stratum typicum.
