Lambis Crocata X Lambis

History and Synonymy

Kronenberg in Poppe, 2008, p. 532, pl. 211:

  • Specimen from Surigao, Surigao del Norte, Philippines, 148 mm; Coll. Barbier

Lambis crocata x lambis; hybrid form; Toliara region (formerly Tuléar), Atsimo-Andrefana, southern Madagascar; 155 mm; Coll. Virgilio Liverani

Lambis crocata x lambis; hybrid form; Salar, 180 km north of Toliara (formerly Tuléar), Atsimo-Andrefana, southern Madagascar; intertidal, on grass bed; 175 mm; Coll. Ulrich Wieneke

Lambis crocata x lambis; hybrid form; Bohol Island, Philipines; 142,3 mm; Coll. Roger Clark

Comments : note that in these hybrids some lyrations are generally visible inside the aperture; Lambis lambis often have lyrae at both ends of the mouth, Lambis crocata well adult specimens often have irregular obsolete liration in the whole aperture, barely visible because the mouth is of uniform colour
