Original Description of Strombus Millepeda by Linnaeus, 1758, p. 743:

"S. testae labro decadactylo, digitis inflexis, fauce substriata, dorso gibbere compresso.."

Locus typicus: "Habitat in O. Asiae." (Linnaeus, 1758); "We hereby designate Olango Island on the east side of Cebu Island, Central Visayas Region, Philippines, as the type locality." (Abbott, 1961)
