Original description of Pterodonta ovata by d’Orbigny, 1843:

  • "P. testâ oblongo-ovatâ; spirâ, angulo 60º; anfractibus subcomplanatis, laevigatis, angustatis, ultimo depresso; labro dilatato, tuberculo elegato."
  • "Coquille ovale. Spire formée d'un angle régulier, composée de tours étroits, presque plans, dont le dernier, un peu déprimé, est pourvu d’une dent occupant presque la longueur du labre."
