Original description of Strombus (Dolomena) kleckhamae boholensis by Mühlhäusser, 1981:

• "Länge des Gehäuses 52-67 mm, Breite 30-40 mm. Zahl der Windungen ohne Protoconch 6.5-7.5. Die ersten 5 Windungen weisen 9-12 gattungstypische und unregelmässig angeordnete Varices auf, dazu eine Skulptur von Axialrippen und Spiralreifen. Bei der vorletzten Windung ist diese Skulptur auf die Partie direkt unter der Sutur beschränkt und wird danach undeutlich. Die letzte Windung weist nur auf der Aussenlippe ausgeprägte Spiralreifen auf. Von der 5. Windung an setzt die Bildung von Schulterknoten ein. Auf der vorletzten Windung sind es 8-10, auf der letzten meist 9, von denen altersbedingt 3-4 von Kallus mehr oder weniger überdeckt sein können. Die Columella ist von oben zwischen 1/2 und 5/6 schwarz gefärbt, nach unten spitz auslaufend, darunter gelblich bis weiss. Sie hat oben 16-21, unten, im hellen Teil 5-14 Falten; die Mitte ist glatt. Die Aussenlippe ist innen zur Hälfte bis zu 2/3 schwarz, der Rand ist weiss. Der schwarze Teil zeigt 26 bis 31 Lirae. Gehäusefärbung: Die ersten 3-4 Windungen sind bräunlich bis weiss. Die Grundfärbung der übrigen Windungen ist weiss mit feinen rotbraunen Zickzack-Längslinien, die auf der Oberseite der Endwindung meist undeutlich werden. Diese zeigt dafür 5 rotbraune, breite Spiralbänder, die auf der Lippe am deutlichsten und dunkelsten sind. Das oberste Spiralband kann undeutlich sein oder fehlen. Einige Stücke zeigen dazu noch rotbraune Axialbänder, so dass die Oberseite grob gegittert erscheint. Das Kanalende ist gelblich bis weiss."

2009

Stephens reports a specimen of Dolomena boholensis from the north-west side of Simuruka Island in Marau Sound, Guadalcanal. Its height is 74,4 mm.

2013

Liverani, 2013, p. 38:

• "Remarks: Regarded as full species because of the separated range, the differences in sculpture (more knobs on the shoulder of the last whorl) and in colouring. It should be noticed that on the dorsal side of the outer lip, on the border, kleckhamae usually has dark Brown horizontal lines, boholensis has White interrupted bands."
