Original Description of Strombus trigonus by Grateloup, 1834, p. 191:

  • "S. Testa turbinato-trigona, tuberculifera, transversim late subsulcosa; ultimo anfractu superne tuberculis majoribus coronato; apertura laevigata; labro crassissimo, expanso, integro, anterius in acumen elongatum producto. Spira brevi."

Measurements: "6 à 7 tours de spire. Longueur: 3 pouces et demi. Diamètre: 2 pouces 8 lignes."

Locus typicus: Dax, Landes, France

Stratum typicum: "Faluns jaunes de Saint-Paul."
