Species / Drepanochilus Abdallahi

Original Description of Drepanocheilus abdallahi by Aboul Ela, Abdel-Gawad & Aly, 1991, p. 209:

  • "medium-sized specimen, high spired with concave whorls. Whorls are 8 in number, where the acute spire consists of 7 whorls, sutures are furrowed. WHorls are carinate and ornamented by 10-12 axial and elongated tubercles produced at the carina. The last whorl occupied less tham 1/3 of the shell height and tapers anteriorly into a short canal. The aperture is oval with remarkable broken lip."

Locus typicus: Gabal Manzour, Maghara, Sinai

Stratum typicum: Upper Albian, bed no. 104 (Diastoma - Thecosmilia - Drepanocheilus Assemblage) Lower Cretaceous

Types: Cairo University, Geology Department (CUGD), (between numbers 1-5800).

Measurements: holotype height: 13 mm
