Species / Rimellopsis

Stromboidea

Original description by Lambiotte, 1979:

  • "Rimellopsis subgen.nov. : Tibia powisi (S.Petit de la Saussaye,1840). The new subgenus Rimellopsis is characterized by the sculpture of the spire, whose last whorls are ornamented with spiral cords and, in the intervalle of them, fine axial striae; by the lack of a callous protuberance on the parietal wall of the aperture; by the columellar cal lus relatively thick and somewhat raised, forming between the spire and his external side a sort of thin groove, and by the granulations more or less elongate which decorate the inside of the outer lip."

There is an ongoing discussion in the literature if Rimellopsis is different from Sulcogladius Sacco, 1893. see:

Rimellopsis species are:

  • Rimellopsis butaciana (Martin, 1899)
  • Rimellopsis excelsa (Giebel, 1864)
  • Rimellopsis hupei (Raoult, 1849)
  • Rimellopsis haueri (Dreger, 1892)
  • Rimellopsis hungarica (Noszky, 1940)
  • Rimellopsis laurenti (Duchamp, 1992)
  • Rimellopsis powisii (Petit de la Saussaye, 1840)

History and Synonymy

1992

Duchamp, 1992, p. 51:
