Species / Rimella

Stromboidea

Rimella species are:

might belng to Rimella

Comments

  • Rimella crassilabrum Deshayes, Rimella javana Martin, 1899 and probably Rimella apenninensis Sacco, 1893 should be allocated to Varicospira Eames. This is based on thickness and form of the outer lip, sculpture and presence of a stromboid notch. See also remarks made by Kronenberg & Burger, 2006. (Gijs Kronenberg, pers. commun.)
  • Virgilio Liverani places Rimella crassilabrum Deshayes, 1835 and Rimella appeninensis Sacco, 1893 into Rimella.

Comments : Rimella s.s. have a tongue-like extension on the lip, in place of the stromboid notch that is present in Varicospira, crassilabrum and apenninensis match the Rimella lip character.
